So I know its been a while since I posted anything new, but everyone knows how time can just get away from you and so the story goes.
I have been very diligently searching for a job. I have even broken down and made my first ever resume, and think I did a good job. While I had been so against making one it seems as though every position Say's please send resume, and as I still find it to be incredible wasteful of my time and theirs I did it(conform isn't that what they say) As a new grad with no prior experience I find it silly to send out a resume as a professional and list bar tending as my major accomplishment in life, according to them that is. If only all my major(I think) accomplishments as a mother meant anything. I would be well experienced and qualified, but instead I'm called only to be asked " what have you been doing for the past 6yrs? If only I could put into words the last six amazing years spent with my kids, what have I not been doing? being a mom ,a mentor, a coach, a volunteer, a teacher, a nurse, a reader, a artist, a major multi -task er, heading up a household of four w/ no major injury, a councilor, a tutor, a cheerleader. and all for free I might add. So YES you should hire me b/c if I don't know how to do it bet me I learn. But apparently that's not what they want to hear b/c STILL no job. hehe
I have called every hospital in Pensacola a few times and have filled out many, many, did I mention Many applications and have been told numerous stories, a few consisting of ; "oh maybe you should volunteer at our hospital and then you would get an IN" or sorry but there are just too many Rn's out there, we can be picky and get the ones with experience or the best one OHHHH your a New Grad sorry I can't help you.
And so the story goes hear I am 8months post Graduation and still no job. I am paying back my student loans and still no job. I refuse to give in or give up and work full-time, a part-time job that's all I'm asking for. I am still confident that its out there somewhere that perfect job for me and until the phone rings I will continue to fill out applications and call people over and over. I didn't go to school and be away from my family for three years to settle for a job I don't want soo I wait.

As a new grad with no experience in your field, your resume should reflect your academic achievements. What was your GPA? What specialized classes did you take? Where did you do your clinicals? Things like that. It's good to have both kinds though. I truly believe the right job for you is out there. I'm sorry it hasn't been an expedient process finding it though.
ReplyDeleteMabie your looking in the wrong city:) No but really try the birth center. Or mabie an add for a private Nurse. I totally agree that you should wait it out for what you deserve. Your a way better choice than a lot of RN's that have years of experience. Is there a reason you din't go to school to become a teacher? You would be a fun teacher and your so good with KIDS. They seem to all like you. I am seriously thinking of going back to school and it is hard to pick just one thing although Nursing would never be a choice for me. But I always think if I am going through all the schooling I definatly want to do something I love.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, mabie now is just not the perfect time. Who knows mabie you can be Ambers Nurse when she is recovering from her C sec. LOL LOL
